Slow Fashion

Slow Fashion

Spell & The Gypsy designs clothing that blends bohemian charm and timeless elegance to create an iconic style that is undeniably theirs. Here at Wild Hunai we specialise in sourcing vintage pieces from the much loved earlier collections; filled with original, hand drawn prints, classic and signature designs; and absolutely our personal favourite ... Spell's exquisite hand milled lace.
These vintage icons will hold their own for years to come. All Spell Clothing Australia is proudly designed and sampled in the creative mecca that is Byron Bay, with their collections ethically made in factories around the world. What is slow fashion? Put simply, slow fashion is the opposite of fast fashion. It encompasses an awareness and approach to fashion that considers the vast processes and resources required to make clothing.

Slow Fashion advocates for buying better-quality garments that will last longer, and values fair treatment of people, animals, and the planet along the way. “Up to 98% of the fashion industry's emissions come from production. And clothing production doubled from 2000 to 2015, driven by global "fast fashion" brands that release more collections each year than traditional brands. With buyers discarding clothing after just a handful of wears, a garbage truck's worth of textiles is now landfilled or burned every second, leading to even more harmful emissions. Changing this starts with shifting consumer behaviour to recirculate, rather than dispose of items they no longer wear, but it has to continue with legislation to rein in fashion's footprint … Addressing the climate crisis means creating permanent change within the fashion industry and reversing the damage we've done. There is no time to waste. We need to take action now.” Opinion by Julie Wainwright TheRealReal CEO
